Dmitri

I am very worried about my good friend Dmitri Grebenchikov. I am unable to reach him and do not know how. If you either know how to get a hold of him or know someone who perhaps would, could you please help me out and let me know. I know that he sometimes sees David Minor. If anyone has David Minor's contact information could you please give it to me? I haven't talked to Dmitri in months. The last time I talked to him he only had a home phone number that I could call and he told me not to call unless it was an emergency because of his jealous girlfriend. Wanting to respect his wishes I haven't called all of this time but when finally thought making sure he was ok was more important and called, I found that his phone number is disconnected. If you have any ideas to help please let me know. Thank you.

-A worried friend

The sound board op for our One Act Play Festival is sick so guess who gets to fill in for her? Yours truly. I'm a little nervous but not as nervous as I'm going to be at the time of the performance. Mind you, I have never seen the plays, never read any of them, and only ran through the cues with the sound designer and sm a little bit earlier today. (I did run through it, so it isn't like I'm going in there completely blind) Fun fun. Wish me luck. :)

We had the once-a-year snow on Valentine's Day. It was beautiful. Up here it gets colder than near Austin so the snow stuck and was just gorgeous. I wish it would snow like that more often and am glad that it was just a little so that things didn't get too gross with slush and what-not. I had a nice Valentine's Day, even though Tom has a cold. We went to a planetarium, ate at Cracker Barrel (how romantic.....not really), and watched Lost in Translation. have a good day!

There was an ad a while ago that was on a billboard. It was black except for the yellow words that say "It's from California, but we mean that in a good way." Uh what? Weeks later they added a thing that showed the California Cheese picture/symbol. I'm excited because they have started showing California Cheese commercials here which you have no idea how I missed those! BUT, did they have to rag on California? silly Texas.
I was thinking, I think it is kinda cool that a lot of us who became friends through theatre or who did theatre together in the past are pursuing that in college. We shared a common interest then, and we're sharing that same common interest now. And I have a question for the theatre majors: do you ever get sick of theatre? For a little while I felt so burnt out. I needed a break from it bad and began to dread going to school for it. I started fearing that it wasn't for me, but somehow I seem to have gotten over that. What do you think?

I'm so indecisive

I'm the co-sound designer for a play that opens in a couple of weeks. I have soooo much to do. Going to school monday through thursday, working friday through sunday, doing homework, studying, finding music, attending rehearsals and things, and spending time with Tom is getting tiring. Always busy. I'm a little stressed about the sound because we're a bit behind schedule.... but we'll get it done.

So, for a while I really didn't know what I wanted to do with my life and even though I started off declaring myself as a Theatre Design major I was thinking I was probably going to change that because I was thinking I was getting sick of Theatre. Well, I think I'm closer to a decision about what I want to do: I want to get a BFA in Theatre Production and Design, an Education degree to teach elementary students, and take many classes in film so that I can do that as well. Yes, I definitely will be busy. I like Theatre, I like the design part. Sometimes it is stressful and sometimes I just don't want to build stuff, but I like it, I know it, and I find that I really want to know more. I want to be successful and want to be a famous lighting designer. I am indecisive though..... so all this may change.

Tomorrow after doing some sound setup and classes I'm headed to Georgetown. I'm taking two days off from work, yay! It'll be so nice to have some days off from school and work. I'm extending my trip by a day from my original plan because saturday I am attending a neighbor's funeral. Cancer is everywhere. So sad.

Much love. I miss everyone. Everyone should take a roadtrip to Texas, I'll show ya a good time! ;-)

This past weekend was my first weekend of work. It went alright. Standing for eight hours checking rich people's groceries isn't all that bad. ha. Now I'm supposed to be studying for an exam in my Acting class. Ah yes, Acting. Me taking an acting class, it's been a while since I acted. Actually, I lied. I did oral interpretation last year in school. just kidding then.

I had a mini adventure saturday when I locked my keys in my car. oh boy. fun fun. that was the first time I had done that and fortunately things worked out ok.

Tommy and I have been together 1 year and 6 months on saturday. I want to do something special for him. (yay!!!![that's a long time for a high school to college relationship]) Does anybody have any ideas of what I could do?

I'm sitting here attempting to write a paper for english but I'm being distracted by the radio. A Radio station here in the DFW metroplex was hosting a big concert with Hilary Duff, Sugar Ray, uh... more people, Amanda Perez, Smashmouth, and a group that starts with an M.. anyways, that concert was supposed to be tonight. Well, it rained. and let me say, it really really rained. I can tell you, it rained. and i knew this for a fact because I got very wet. Silly walking across campus and then back again in the pouring downfall of the skies opening up. Well, not just rained but thunderstormed so they canceled the show due to it being dangerous. So, they have the performers on the radio and it is drawing my attention from my paper, but it's interesting!

Betty Buckely and film at UT

Uh... livejournal changed. but ok....

This is the 3rd week of school and I'm already ready for a break. hehe. I don't have class on fridays though which is really nice. Betty Buckley is teaching a class at UTA. Isn't that awesome? (I hope I spelled her name right) Only upperclassman can take her class this semester though, and she's going to be gone for 8 weeks cuz she's touring for some show. Cool cool.

UTAustin is starting a major film program starting next year supported by a whole bunch of famous film people. I have been interested in film and interested in doing it as a career. Nice to know that if I wanted to, I could be close to home and have a good school to put on my record for that. So its cool they're doing that. It was sad cuz about half way through the article I was reading about this I finally realized why they were calling the company working with UT, Burnt Orange. "Oh yeah... the color of the school. dur"

K, well, that's my updation for now. :)

Oh, for those of you who wouldn't mind praying for someone...
My technical theatre teacher from high school has brain cancer so if you could, say a little pray. Ms. James has oligodendroglioma, a rare form of brain cancer. Thanks. Love.

I went away for a couple of days and guess what happened: I killed the grass. Oops. I'm trying to revive it but I don't think it's working. Dead grass. What to do? Can't exactly hide it.... I'll think of something, I can't lose hope!!!!

A trying week

The last time I updated here I said that I graduated. Since then I spent time with Reed, vacationed in San Antonio, Dallas, and California, bought a car, moved to Arlington, and signed up for classes. July 11th I moved to Arlington to an apartment on campus. It didn't take me long to decide that I needed to find something better for my money. There were roaches everywhere, the place was so small, I did not feel safe being there, and the place was run-down. I went searching for another aparment, which is not fun if you are looking for one ASAP. I went to the boring orientation and signed up for classes. I was so ready to get that done. I found a place I like and moved in. I am so relieved. This has been an interesting week.
